Drafts Bookstore

Brand concepting & strategy, design

Drafts is a bookstore concept inspired by my experiences in creative writing workshops and celebrates the writing and editing behind well-loved reads. Each title at Drafts is shared with a glimpse into its creation—whether it's through exclusive author interviews, original manuscript displays, or unreleased drafts. The store also fosters a creative community by hosting writing workshops and events, positioning Drafts as both a literary hub and an experiential destination for book lovers.

The visual identity was informed by research into the current landscape of bookstore branding, where a white space opportunity exists for more modern, contemporary design. Drafts is designed to offer value not only to readers, but also writers and creatives, targeting a wider consumer base to address retailer pain points around limited demand and consumer engagement—both widely experienced trends in the printed books market.

I created a graphic standards manual to establish the bookstore's visual identity. It reflects the handwritten and digital revisions, notes, and transformations that shape great literature. The branding leans heavily on typographic elements, emphasizing their significance in book publishing.
